About IAIM

The purpose of IAIM is to promote nurturing touch and communication through training, education and research so that parents, caregivers and children are loved, valued and respected throughout the world community.

In 1977 IAIM's founder, Vimala McClure, wrote "A Handbook for Loving Parents" and began training instructors. In 1981 IAIM was officially born when Audrey Downes sponsored an instructor training. It is an international, non-profit organisation, represented worldwide in nearly 30 countries.

Vimala developed this infant massage programme through careful research and practical experience, incorporating Indian and Swedish massage strokes, with some ideas from reflexology and yoga.
