Train to be an Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI)

Training will be facilitated by Peggy Dawson, a Certified Trainer of IAIM and massage therapist trained in the San Francisco School of Massage, experienced in working with babies and children in San Francisco, New York and Auckland; and Alison Trethewey, a Certified Trainer of IAIM, and experienced Early Childhood Education Teacher, and Professional Teaching Member of the NZ Association of Therapeutic Massage Practitioners.

Training will include videos, overheads and hands-on training; and effective methods of working with: Well Babies, Hypersensitive Babies, Pre-term Babies, Special Needs Babies, Parents.

Tuition for certification process includes:

  • A four day training session
  • An instructor's manual
  • Vimala Schneider McClure's book "Infant Massage: A Handbook for Loving Parents"
  • Assessment of Open Book Study and for practical study over a period of three months
  • Free membership and a newsletter for the current year
  • Access and guidance to resources and teaching materials
  • An international umbrella of integrity that is recognised in 32 countries around the world
  • Opportunities for Continuing Education in specialist areas

Trainings are planned for 2008 as follows:

Auckland : 24th - 27th July at Vaughan Park Retreat, Torbay, North Shore
Christchurch : 10th - 13th April - CCS Disability Action, 220-224 Lichfield Street, Christchurch
Wellington : 4th - 7th September - Hutt Hospital, Lower Hutt
